Introduction

Are you pre-diabetic or do you suffer from Diabetes?

Nearly 24 million Americans suffer from diabetes. The number of new diabetes cases is expected to double by 2050. Diabetes is a group of diseases marked by high levels of blood glucose. It can result from defects in insulin production, insulin action, or both. Diabetes can lead to serious complications, such as blindness, kidney damage, cardiovascular disease, lower-limb amputations and premature death. People with diabetes can take steps to control the disease and lower the risk of complications.

Your normal daily glucose level range can vary, so any single blood glucose level is not conclusive. BGL readings must be taken at different times of the day to determine the average blood glucose levels over time. Your blood glucose is influenced by the time of day.

Your blood glucose level is influenced by many factors. What time of day? What foods have you eaten recently? Were you relaxed that day, when you are usually much more stressed? Have you recently exercised? You must check daily, especially if you show "borderline" readings. Use your Glucose Diary so that you come to know your own body, and the effects of exercise, weight, food, and time of day on your blood glucose level.

Your Glucose Diary

If you have diabetes or are pre-diabetic, one of the most helpful tools for you and your doctors is your Blood Glucose Level data.  Most doctors surveyed felt that the best way to improve a consultation would be for a patient to keep track of their symptoms and glucose levels.  Keeping a record of your daily readings in your diary can be a great way of determining the true impact of diabetes on your life.  It is useful to keep track of any medications, insulin taken, glucose level, foods eaten, lab tests and your levels.   Even if you don’t see a doctor on a regular basis for your glucose levels, keeping a log of all the items mentioned above will help you manage your glucose levels better.  If you do see a doctor, email details from your Glucose Diary directly to your doctor before your consultation.

If you are just starting to investigate your levels, you may want to track everything that may be causing your high or low levels to find a pattern.   You should track information such as what you've eaten, whether you had stress or not, and all of your symptoms.  You should do this on a daily basis for a while.   Once you have enough data, your diary will help you know your body so that you can begin to manage your blood glucose levels better.

Quick Start Guide

This section guides you through a simple Glucose Diary session.   You will navigate through the common functions to create and view your health information.   For help on advanced features go to the Detailed Functionality section.

Recording a Glucose Level Reading

You have just taken your glucose level or injected insulin, what do you do?

Your data will be more accurate if you record your levels in your diary as soon as possible. It is essential to remember any symptoms, carbs or other factors to gain insight into your blood glucose level. If you are injecting insulin, you can mark in the field, “New Insulin Opened?” that you opened a new vial or pen. The Glucose Diary allows for tracking of glucose levels, insulin, food, carbs, medication, exercise, weight, BP, stress levels, sleep and a host of extras like injection sites, symptoms and lab test results all with just a few screen taps. Enter as little or as much data as you need. Create new items, new medication names, new insulin brand name, new symptoms etc. in your selectable lists.

Step 1

Highlight the date of the level and press the add (+) button.

Step 2

Enter the data.  If you have more than one level or injection in a day, don't forget to enter when the level was taken.

Step 3

Finally, press the “Save” button.  If you do not save before exiting, you will be asked to confirm your action.

Finding your Glucose Level Patterns
